Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama
October 20, 2008Sunday 19th oct Colin Powell announced who he will be voting for. The former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorses Obama. Even though Powell was Secretary of State under Republican president George W. Bush, he is voting for the Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. There has been many rumors on the web about Powell endorsing Obama, and today he went public. (se Colin Powell støtter Obama og Powell velger Obama)
So why did Powell endorse Obama and not McCain?
- he has concerns about the direction of the Republican party, that it has moved more to the right than he would like to see it
- he believes that Obama has done a better job handling the financial crisis
- he believes that Obama has the right qualities for the job
- he believes that McCain made a mistake in his choice of vice president. He doesnt think Sarah Palin is ready to be president if McCain is unable
- he says he votes for the candidate who he thinks will do the best job, regardless of party
- he believes that Obama is the best person to help fix the worlds view of the US
Powell has stayed out of politics since he left the Bush administration in 2005, but has jumped back in with his endorsement of Obama. How his endorsement will effect undecided voters? Only time will tell.

Powell is a republican, but votes for democrates when the repblicans dont vote for their best candidate. Powell votes for his country, not for his “party”
Suddenly because Powell is endorsing obama he is not as evil as he used to be? Yet, Powell was the one encouraging the Iraq war claiming they had WMD. Anyone with intelligence knows that Powell is endorsing based on race.
98% of black people are voting for obama just because he is black. White people are split between obama, nadar, and McCain. Think about it.
The truth is this is a race campaign. The Democrats control the senate and congress and have the lowest approval rating in US history. The Democrats couldn’t even beat Bush in the elections thus why they are going after the black vote in the US, about 45 million blacks. Thus, why obama voted present over 130 times, avoided the tough issues, and never challenged his party leaders on senate to preserve his political career. Only 143 days on state senate when he decided to run for office.
The Democrats lost because the US is not a socialist/communist system. Americans fought against Nazi Germany, their socialist party, and communist USSR for decades, just to name a few.
Again, Clinton supported deregulation and introduced FTAs like NAFTA. That is why the US economy was strong during his administration. McCain also supports deregulation and fights for FTAs like NAFTA. These initiatives will help our economy. Our economy is very important, McCain is better for our economy. I hope people get educated before they vote.
US businesses create US jobs. obama wants to limit the growth of US businesses, which is limiting the growth of US jobs. If you increase tax on US businesses they will either just relocate to a lower tax country taking American jobs with them, pass the added tax cost to consumers or go bankrupt. GM and Ford can barely compete globally and obama wants to tax them more. The smaller businesses that are reliant on GM and Ford will also be greatly affected, destroying more US jobs.
The US is the land of opportunity not the land of equal outcome. Why should government take your money and give it to people who are already on welfare to spread the wealth?

Thanks for the comment. Its good to see the issues from both sides. You do have some good points, but I dont agree on all of them.
Yes most colored people will be voting for Obama, but most colored people vote democratic anyway. The rest that are voting for Obama just because of color, will only balance out the people that want vote for Obama because of color.
Democrats are more responsible than they are willing to say in regard to the financial crisis. But we need a to change the regulation, not have less regulation in general. The link you posted say that bush wanted to change some regulation so that banks dont give as many bad loans. The video then says that the democrats in congress stopped it. But the republicans were in charge of congress then, not the democrats.
Taxes in the us are in generally low, at least compared to norway. And we had our largest budget surpluss ever last year. The US is the land of opportunity, and not equal outcome. But many people need a help getting started. Many have several jobs, but still cant pay the bills. Why not use welfare to help them. Yes some people do misuse the system, and they should not get anything. Taxes will go up, but that has alot to do with bushes tax cuts. Only once in us history has the president cut taxes when at war, once. That was under republican bush. Im not saying that if he didnt make the cuts that the crisis wouldnt have happend, but the government would be better off to cope with it.
